The Village of Broadview regulates construction through the Village of Broadview Building Code and a range of national and international codes. The Building Department issues construction permits, conducts inspections of all construction projects at specific stage of profess and performs regular property maintenance standards inspections of all multi-family buildings. In addition, exterior maintenance inspections are conducted on all residential structures in the Village of Broadview. In 2009, the Village of Broadview adopted the 2009 ICC Building Codes.

The purpose of the Village of Broadview Building Code is to establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress, facilities, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment and to provide safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.
