In 2012, the Broadview Police Department re-structured. One major change was the addition of a designated Community Outreach Office. This office coordinates police participation in community events and assures that police personnel are actively engaged in the community and embracing the Community Policing philosophy (active partnerships within the community). Here’s just a small example of some of the things the Community Outreach Office has been involved with:

Increased presence at Lindop and Roosevelt Schools
Broadview Neighborhood Watch
Bike Patrol
Foot Patrol
Citizen Police Academy
Operation Santa
Cop on rooftop
Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
National Night Out
Coffee with a Cop
Social Media posts
Anonymous Crime Tips
Crime prevention literature

The idea is to build trust and familiarity; to bridge the gap between the public and the police officers who serve them. If residents and police officers work as partners to reduce crime, we can improve the standard of living for residents, strengthen our business district and increase officer safety all at the same time.
