911 Communications
The Ike 911 Center is the heart of our communications section. Telecommunicators are the first true responders, we are the first voice you will hear when you have an emergency. We recognize the importance of our role in the response system and strive to keep our citizens and first responders free from danger.
When a 911 call is received, the caller’s location appears on our monitor. This is critical for your safety in situations where you may not be able to speak into the phone. Using our computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, IKE Telecommunicators can access information in its database to retrieve information from prior events and disseminate to responding officers if necessary.
We realize that in an emergency, you expect the person who answers the phone to be highly trained, professional and courteous. Skilled Telecommunicators are always ready to assess your unique situation and dispatch the needed resources.
Overweight Truck Enforcement
Overweight trucks can damage our streets and cost taxpayers money; so Broadview Police Officers with specialized training are always on the look out for signs that a truck might be overweight.
Additionally, these officers schedule truck details/operations with the Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement agencies throughout the year. During these roadside checks, all commercial, construction and garbage trucks are checked for proper traffic weight and given a thorough safety inspection by the State Police Motor Carrier Safety Officers. Through these roadside safety checks we limit the number of unsafe commercial vehicles traveling on Broadview roads.
Records Division
The records division is overseen by the Administrative Lieutenant. A part-time records clerk processes reports requested by the public. Freedom of Information requests, record checks for city, state, and federal jurisdictions, local court files, and village ordinance violations are maintained by the records division. Fines, including traffic fines, village ordinance fines, and towing/storage are managed by the records division. Parking fines can be paid online at www.payquicket.com
The Administrative Lieutenant is the liaison with the Maybrook Courthouse to ensure citations are transmitted to the Cook County Clerk’s Office and court files are readily available for the State’s Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Records request can be made at the Broadview Municipal Building, Police Window between 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday – Friday.
Cops Bureau
This office coordinates police participation in community events and assures that police personnel are actively engaged in the community and embracing the Community Policing philosophy (active partnerships within the community). Here’s just a small example of some of the things the Community Outreach Office has been involved with:
- Increased presence at Lindop and Roosevelt Schools
- Bike Patrol
- Foot Patrol
- Operation Santa
- DUNKIN “Cop on Rooftop” for Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
- National Night Out
- Coffee with a Cop
- Social Media Activity
- Anonymous Crime Tips
Community Policing means authentic partnerships between police and communities and other agencies to solve problems that threaten community safety. The idea is to build trust and familiarity; to bridge the gap between the public and the police officers who serve them. If residents and police officers work as partners to reduce crime, we can improve the standard of living for residents, strengthen our business district and increase officer safety all at the same time.
